The Three Peaks
The peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Penyghent are in my backyard – so no surprise that they are all subjects for my attention as a painter. Since moving to this area forty years ago my eagerness to visit the summits has never diminished and I regularly pay homage to each. However, I have drawn the line under four round trips of all three in one day (24 miles)!

Although these tops see more and more visitors – it is still fairly quiet compared with the not so far away Lakeland Fells – and mid-week I frequently wander the tops for five/six hours without seeing a soul. An ideal situation when I simply want to sit and sketch in total isolation.
